In
the late 1960's and throughout the 1970's, Michael Dobo had an all-access
backstage pass to many of the foremost rock stars and luminaries
of the day. When he wasn't making his rent by trailing Chevy Chase
or Jane Fonda around a local supermarket or impairing his hearing
while stumbling around huge stacks of screaming Marshall amps, Dobo
and his Nikon were also providential eyewitnesses to the Sixties
Counter Culture Revolution as it unfolded.
In addition to daily assignments, during this period he also shot
album art for Bonnie Raitt, Maria Muldaur and Alex Taylor, worked
as assistant to Annie Liebovitz and covered several Presidential
campaign bids. Despite this peripatetic existence, Dobo also found
a spare moment or two over the years to capture countless eclectic
images of everyday life. The "Photo by Michael Dobo" credit
line has appeared in Time, Life, Newsweek People, Rolling Stone,
The New York Times Magazine, TV Guide and numerous other publications.
In the 1980's and 1990's, Dobo worked as a videographer on numerous
television and motion picture productions, including the 1993 Academy
Award©-winning documentary, The Panama Deception . In
2002, he founded Earthlingua Corporation, and is currently developing
an original series for television.
